About Me

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am from Baltimore, MD. I have a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech (go hokies!) and completed my dietetic internship and M.S in Nutritional Science from Cal State, Long Beach. I believe in nourishing our bodies with whole foods that are also delicious. I went into nutrition because of my love for food and am someone whose family has deemed them a bread-addict. I currently work as a Community Dietitian for Maryland SNAP-Ed. In my free time I like to come up with new recipes, play with my dog, read, run and do yoga.

Why Bread & Butter
As a dietitian, I find eating healthy being shown by our society as a complicated maze of fad diets, pricey supplements, body shaming and ever changing rules of what not to eat. I am here to challenge that and inspire people to take on a simple healthy lifestyle that includes cooking your own delicious food. Think a focus on a variety of fruits and veggies, whole grains, some protein and legumes, and of course some sweets and treats sprinkled in. Simply put, just following the basics of nutrition, or in this case, the bread & butter.
